Authorship & Contributorship Policy

The Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Human Sciences (YZIB) is committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, and integrity in authorship and contributorship.

Authorship should accurately reflect substantial intellectual contributions to a scholarly work. Individuals who do not meet the criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors, while those who have made qualifying contributions should not be omitted.

This policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to YZIB.

1. Criteria for Authorship

To qualify as an author, an individual should have made substantial contributions to the work and should be able to take public responsibility for the content.

Authors are generally expected to meet all of the following criteria:

  • substantial contribution to the conception, design, methodology, data acquisition, analysis, interpretation, or execution of the study;

  • participation in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content;

  • approval of the final version to be published; and

  • agreement to be accountable for the accuracy, integrity, and ethical conduct of the work.

Individuals who do not meet these criteria should not be listed as authors.

2. Author Contributions

YZIB requires authors to provide an Author Contributions Statement describing each author's role in the research and preparation of the manuscript.

The journal encourages the use of the CRediT Contributor Roles Taxonomy where appropriate.

Contributor roles may include:

  • Conceptualization

  • Methodology

  • Software

  • Validation

  • Formal Analysis

  • Investigation

  • Resources

  • Data Curation

  • Writing – Original Draft

  • Writing – Review & Editing

  • Visualization

  • Supervision

  • Project Administration

  • Funding Acquisition

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that the contribution statement accurately reflects the roles of all authors.

3. Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author acts as the primary contact between the journal and the authors.

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  • ensuring that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria;

  • confirming that all authors have approved the submitted and final versions of the manuscript;

  • ensuring that all authors are aware of the submission;

  • providing accurate author information and affiliations;

  • coordinating responses during peer review and production;

  • communicating relevant editorial decisions to all authors;

  • ensuring that conflicts of interest, funding, ethics approvals, and other required declarations are complete; and

  • informing the journal of any authorship dispute or requested change in authorship.

The corresponding author does not have greater ownership of the work than the other authors.

4. Order of Authors

The order of authors should be determined collectively by the authors according to disciplinary norms and their respective contributions.

YZIB does not determine author order on behalf of the authors.

Any dispute regarding author order should be resolved by the authors and, where necessary, their institution before publication.

5. Changes in Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must be made in writing to the editorial office.

The request should include:

  • the reason for the proposed change;

  • confirmation that all authors agree to the change; and

  • confirmation from any author being added or removed.

Authorship changes after acceptance will be considered only in exceptional circumstances.

Once an article has been published, authorship changes will normally require a formal correction notice.

YZIB reserves the right to suspend editorial processing while an authorship dispute is being resolved.

6. Group or Consortium Authorship

Where research is conducted by a collaborative group, consortium, network, or research team, group authorship may be used where appropriate.

The manuscript should clearly identify:

  • the name of the group or consortium;

  • authors who meet full authorship criteria;

  • contributors who do not meet authorship criteria but should be acknowledged; and

  • the specific roles of contributors where relevant.

7. Contributors Who Do Not Meet Authorship Criteria

Individuals who contributed to the work but do not meet the criteria for authorship may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section.

Examples may include:

  • technical assistance;

  • language editing;

  • administrative support;

  • data collection support;

  • statistical consultation;

  • general supervision;

  • funding support alone; or

  • other contributions that do not meet full authorship criteria.

Permission should be obtained from individuals who are named in the acknowledgments where appropriate.

8. Guest, Gift, and Honorary Authorship

Guest, gift, or honorary authorship is not permitted.

Individuals should not be listed as authors solely because of:

  • academic status;

  • institutional position;

  • departmental leadership;

  • financial support;

  • general supervision;

  • personal relationships; or

  • expectations of professional courtesy.

9. Ghost Authorship

Ghost authorship is prohibited.

Individuals who have made substantial contributions meeting the criteria for authorship should not be omitted from the author list.

Professional writers, consultants, or other contributors who contributed to manuscript preparation should be appropriately disclosed where relevant.

10. Purchased, Fabricated, or Misrepresented Authorship

YZIB does not permit:

  • purchased authorship;

  • sale or transfer of authorship positions;

  • fabricated author identities;

  • unauthorized addition of authors;

  • use of false affiliations; or

  • intentional misrepresentation of author contributions.

Evidence of authorship manipulation may result in rejection, withdrawal, correction, retraction, or other appropriate action under the journal's publication ethics policies.

11. Artificial Intelligence and Authorship

Artificial intelligence systems, generative AI tools, large language models, chatbots, or other AI-assisted technologies cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

AI systems cannot assume responsibility for the integrity, originality, ethical compliance, copyright, or final approval of a manuscript.

The use of AI-assisted technologies must comply with the journal's AI Policy.

12. Institutional and Organizational Affiliations

Authors must provide accurate and current institutional affiliations that reflect where the work was conducted or the author's primary professional affiliation at the time of the research.

False, misleading, or strategically manipulated affiliations are not permitted.

Where an author has moved institutions, a present address may be added separately where appropriate.

13. ORCID Identification

YZIB encourages authors to provide a valid ORCID iD to support accurate author identification and attribution.

Where available, ORCID identifiers should be linked to the corresponding author and other contributing authors.

14. Authorship Disputes

YZIB does not normally adjudicate disputes regarding authorship, contribution, or author order.

When a dispute arises, the journal may:

  • suspend editorial processing;

  • request clarification from the authors;

  • request written agreement from all authors; or

  • refer the matter to the relevant institution, research-integrity office, or other appropriate authority.

Editorial processing may resume after the matter has been satisfactorily resolved.

15. Responsibility and Accountability

All authors share responsibility for the integrity of the published work.

Each author should be able to identify the contributions of their co-authors and should have confidence in the integrity of those contributions.

Authors are expected to cooperate with the journal in responding to reasonable questions concerning the accuracy, ethics, or integrity of the work.

16. Publication Ethics Standards

Authorship and contributorship matters will be evaluated in accordance with YZIB's publication ethics policies and internationally recognized principles of responsible authorship and scholarly publishing.

YZIB reserves the right to update this policy in response to developments in publication ethics, research integrity, and scholarly communication.
